I think it helps our brain really learn that we are not helpless or vulnerable. It doesn't mean that we can't accept help from others, but it does mean being able to meet your own needs. Do something nice for yourself. Eat food that is going to make you feel good. Take yourself outdoors. See the sun. Find time to socialize. The same things that you would do for a real life child.
