Rhee executed political opponents at will, after rigged trials. He ran a personal ring of corruption and treated the prime minister like a personal assistant. The CIA even thought that Rhee had crossed into senility or insanity. But in 1960, the corruption, the ballot stuffing, the political murders, this all kicked up a popular revolt.
