First isolated black hole ever detected. Form when certain stars that aren't near any other stars explode in a supernova. Best way to spot them is by looking for interactions with nearby stars. But this doesn't work if you've just got a lonely, isolated black hole. Researchers have used a handy phenomenon called micro lensing to get around this and spot an isolated black hole about five thousand light years away from Earth.
