Paul wrote very deliberately, well Paul's letters are deliberately kind of subtle, sometimes not so subtle digs at imperial language. So when you say Jesus is the Christ, is the King, it's a subversive proclamation. The cross was how the Roman Empire said, look, if you stand against our empire, this is your destiny. We will put you on a cross. It's like somebody has defeated the whatever, the M1 battle tank. There's a force greater than the force that the Roman Empire is saying and we need to have that fight.
