The Threats to Journalists in Mali
State media tends to embed local journalists with the army in Mali and Burkina Faso. There is very little alternative media, especially if it's social or internet. Only about a quarter of the population have regular internet access in Burkina Fasa. In Niger which has one of the lowest literacy level, it's probably less than 20%. The main thing that is being undermined is accountability.
