Kramer's Malius Maleficarum
In the 15th and 18th century, some 50,000 people were executed for witchcraft. The Malius was a book written by an Austrian man who wanted to prosecute witches. It fused elite ideas about witches with village concepts of what they looked like and did. Over time, this process played out over and over again in late medieval and early modern Europe.
