In 15 90, the poet john weaver published a poem called ad gulielmum shakespeare. It praises sh Shakespeare's published poems, mainly venus and adonis. So some one, it seems at least, was already appreciating shakespeare as a master of the poetic line. This passage also tells us a good bit about what plays had been written and performed by 15 98.
