How to Make the New Zealand Flag Commission Idiot Proof

We seem to be spending a lot of our time thinking and talking about ways to make this idiot proof. The way I'm thinking of it is how can we maximize the number of understandable, non-spoiled ballots that we receive? And without a doubt, going the postcard method definitely makes it a little bit harder. We're sacrificing some ease for the charm of postcards.
