Inflation Can't Come Down Without Unemployment
There is absolutely positively no proof that inflation can't come down without the unemployment rate going up. In 1990, core CPI in the US was 5.2%. It gradually went down over the next decade to 2%. 10 year rates were 9% in 1990, and it took the entire time to get them down below 5%. They never got below 4.5% over that decade. Today's tenure rate is 3.6%.
