The Romans tried to ban the Kolta baccanalia or that's a bit annoyed with that well I see they have problems with the Ices at one point maybe it's foreign gods always a little bit suspect in not just Romans but all Indo-European religions. The gift giving apparently was absolutely ubiquitous even more than in our society seems everyone you gave everyone you knew a small trinket or you wrote them a poem or something so yeah the gift side of it seems to have been quite important. Lots of drinking and feasting and gambling gambling was heavily associated with the Saturnalia.
