The Relationship Between Christianity and Anti-Slavery
Both Garrison and Douglas were dissatisfied with the way that the churches dealt with slavery. In their view, the churches were either pro-slavery or were too cowardly. The only religious organization that was out there really opposing slavery in a meaningful sense were the Quakers.
