The Different Types of Heart Blocks

Second degree heart blocks occur when some, but not all of those atrial contractions are conducted through the AV node and therefore missing a ventricular depolarization. Third degree heart block is where there's no communication at all between the atria and the ventricles. Watch out for those really nasty broad slow bradicotic rhythms because they are not good news. And even worse than these complete heart blocks are these agonal rhythms which you would expect in patients that were dying.
