Random Nodding: A Play With Evolutionary Errors
Our brains are pattern seeking. This would of course be crucial for detecting predators and prey. But we're so adept at this, at pattern seeking and agency detecting that we overshoot. It's not even a bug in the system, it's a feature of the system. We have to be descended from those who erred basically toward paranoia. Does that mean that if humans continue to evolve and exist for the next however many millennia, are we slowly getting more paranoid and delusional over time? I don't think so.
