Chinese AI startup DeepSeek shakes up the tech market with its R1 Reasoning model that it claims has better performance than OpenAI’s o1 model at just 3% to 5 % of the cost. Canadian developer Daniel Supernault has launched a Kickstarter to increase development of federated social media apps. And multiple YouTube viewers say they are getting served hour-long ads on YouTube without an option to skip them.
