Every new key that gets uploaded has to be signed by another trusted device. And if the signature doesn't verify, then that you just don't get access to that. It's avoiding compromise of your ends of your end-to-end encryption from the like control service itself. They have a little diagram, but I haven't looked at the literal UX and I have to update my own tail scale setup over here because I logged out of it.
