The History of Slavery
The word slave comes from Slav as in Slavs because the Slavs were the slaves. They just kept being enslaved by literally everybody so that their name became synonymous with slavery. It was a very recent phenomenon that Africans were enslaved in the grand scheme of things. If you look up the true history of the dark ages, there was a time when actually the Africans enslaved the Spanish as well.
