The History of Plymouth Gin

The Plymouth distillery was good friends with the Navy. Every once in a while they would bottle their gin at British proof, which is not Navy strength. The Brigitte alacrity and three other surface ships in a submarine come back from the Falklands War each got a case of this foolproof 57% gin. This stronger gin was particularly popular on submarines as it enabled the Royal Navy to keep their policy of conserving space on board.
