The Return of Pausanias to Sparta

Pausanias may have been guilty of treason, but what is certain is that he alienated the Greeks serving under him. The result was that with his reputation and gravitas now being tarnished, he would not be sent out again as commander. Dorkus's return to Sparta marked the end of Sparta's official active involvement in the offensive war against Persia.
