To understand climate change as a mental health problem, we must see the way it reflects and magnifies other social injustices that make it harder to cope. Intersectionality invites us to understand that the climate crisis only exacerbates current and historical struggles and oppression. We know that young people in lower and middle income countries are disproportionately exposed to climate hazards. So on top of these physical threats to their well-being, they experience more emotional threats too.
