In the year 1916, Karl Marx was mentioned more frequently in English books than Isaac Newton, Jeremy Bentham, Alfred Marshall, David Hume, and David Ricardo. Mark Twain, Benjamin Franklin, Herbert Spencer, and John Stuart Mill are bigger than Marx as of 1916. And I also know from discussions at Philhead with people that the synthetic Karl Marx was other socialists, people like LaSalle and Prudone and Red Burtis.
