Anita Hill testified that she was sexually harassed by her former boss, Clarence Thomas. Despite Anita Hill's testimony, Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court. The hearings inspired women to run for office all across the country. In 1994, President Bill Clinton signed the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. Bawa was included in that bill.
