The Importance of Imagination
The writer and her husband visited a converted factory in London. The loft was spacious enough for the couple to each have their own work area. They were excited by the diversity of the area, but worried they might not be able to become part of the community. Around this time, I went to visit my cousin Tara at her university. She asked if our creative work was secure enough for us to take on a mortgage. We never denied that we wanted children; it was one of the aspects of our lives that we still needed to bring into focus.
