I think there's a distinction to be made between whether we're more peaceable in our own societies or not. And I think violence is less tolerated in many societies. When we no longer tolerate public executions, we no longer, in most societies, tolerate the sorts of cruelties and the violence that the people in many societies were accustomed to. But that's not war. And IThink we're still capable of making war. You know, they have come back in Afghanistan. They've come back in Iraq. We've tended to forget about it.
