Kabala is a jewish mystical tradition. It's roughly similar to neo platonic mystical thought, or gnostic mystical thought that you can see in different religions going back to the ancient world. The idea of a messiah who will redeem the jews from exile and re establish the freedom of the jews in a jewish kingdom has been around since biblical times. But over the course of the 14, 15 hundreds, kabala becomes more and more popular. So we have people trying to make sense of these crises that are happening around them.
