Rights of Nature and Ecocide in Energy Transition Decisions

This chapter explores the benefits of applying rights of nature and ecocide frameworks to energy transition decisions, highlighting the avoidance of negative trade-offs and the potential for setting an outer boundary for action to prevent the worst harms. It also discusses the pushback against rights of nature laws and the challenges of implementing ecocide laws without demonizing those who previously operated within the bounds of the law.
