The Origins of the Polygraph Test

Amit Kudwala tells the story of how a polygraph test was used to solve a crime. A series of robberies at University of California, Berkeley had been going on since spring in 1921. The police were looking for suspects but didn't have too many promising leads so they decided to try out Larson's device. He hooked up college women and asked them questions related to the case before recording their body responses. But things started to go south when he questioned one woman who showed no emotion during her answers. She ended up confessing after being threatened with prison time if she didn't sign a confession or be named publicly.
