The Use of Metaphors in Early Poetry
There is a view that metaphor is simply a way of heightening orna peech. Vico says, if you look at what ancient speech is like, you will find the extreme frequency of metaphors in it indicates that metaphor was a perfectly normal method of using words for the people of that time.
