The Role of Brokers in the Dynamics of Broker Selection
There's some logic of quid pro quo, where if the benefit is being given by a political party or a politician, the idea is it's in return for the vote. Somebody has to then also follow up with voters and kind of be able to verify if indeed voters are holding up their end of the bargain. Brokers were thought to play a central role in kind of facilitating that quid Pro Quo.
