Using Backpropagation in a Network

Backpropagation is an algorithm that has been around since the 40s. It was first used to simulate networks of Bolsom machines, but nobody had actually applied it to anything practical. Now people are using neural nets in a variety of ways including reading comprehension and speech recognition.
