The Role of Oxalate in the Body

The calcium oxalate crystals are mostly just abrasive and damaging to tissue but don't get directly into the blood. What gets in there is oxalic acid and it goes straight to your liver. It uses up glutathione because the liver has to protect itself. And if you eat peanut butter on whole wheat toast for breakfast and have some kind of spinner salad for lunch and sweet potatoes for dinner and chocolate ice cream for dessert, you've nailed yourself four times a day after every meal.
