Are You Writing From the Perspective of a Black Woman?

"I don't think it's white person's responsibility to write from the perspective of say a black woman who is looking for love," she says. "We do want to reflect a world in which there are diverse characters, and so we may not write a character from their perspective ... But having a best friend who is a person of color, etc. That's a wonderful way to show a society that's really diverse without us appropriating a culture or something that isn't our own."
