Chronos, swinging the sickle, had cut off his father's genitals. In each place where blood dripped, there arose beings, furies, giants, and nymphs. The triumph of Chronos seemed like it might harken in a period of prosperity. Yet in spite of Chronos' victory, peace and prosperity would not descend over the cosmos.
