The Importance of Imagination in Analysis
Lacan calls this a lack in which pure undivided, unrestrained life is removed. And now life is subjective, subjected to the impositions of sexuality. At the level of demand, the analyst is presumed to be what Lacan calls the subject supposed to know. The projective enterprise of assuming that somebody else knows is an imaginary exercise.
