The Buffalo evening news wrote about Bertha in 1881. She had what is described by the French as a beau figure. Her wavy hair is soft and black and her hands are white, taper fingered and filbert nailed. Anyone with an eye for distances can readily perceive that the lady has passed her hugging days. To one who has such a contempt for men as she, this can occasion little regret.
