Ancient Egyptian Pyramids
Granite, alabaster and basalt were the only materials of which use and quantity was not regulated in advance. Each king sent one of the great men of his court on a mission to the quarries of Upper Egypt. The pyramid of Kufu, Kiyops, rose to 475 feet above the ground. Marenra had a pyramid as large as that of Pepi II, whose rain lasted more than 90 years.
