Alexander of Aphrodisius wrote commentaries on aristotle. He would quote an entire treatise by aristotle one bit at a time. With lengthy explanations of each bit. Every sentence in aristotle was treated with great care and attention. This is why we find alexander writing the polemical treatise i mentioned earlier on fate. Although it is not a commentary, it's a good chance to see how alexander does philosophy.
