House of Israel in the Old Testament

When it's used alone, when house of Israel is used by itself, it can refer to all Israelites or all the people of God. In other words, anyone who can claim common ancestry from Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, doesn't have to refer to the northern kingdom.
