House of Israel in the Old Testament
When it's used alone, when house of Israel is used by itself, it can refer to all Israelites or all the people of God. In other words, anyone who can claim common ancestry from Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, doesn't have to refer to the northern kingdom. So you can actually have this phrase again, just be used generically to refer to any descendant from Jacob. This phrase can be used to speak of Judah. You know, it sounds odd. House of Israel refers to Judah, in the days when you had two kingdoms,. but we have to remember what we actually don't have two kingdoms. Now one of them is gone. We have this other
