We don't know very much about what happens in terms of embryo development after 14 days. The reason why scientists would like this rule extended is because that's the period at which we could learn, you know, why certain pregnancies don't work out. And so what the new recommendations are now saying is it's not throw all caution to the wind and do whatever you want. They've just said, if any one wants to do research with human embryos in the lab, there needs to be a bunch different approval steps.
