The Rise of the Society of St. Tammany

The most significant vehicle for his rise in influence was a political organization called tammany hall, or the society of saint tammany. The chief qualification though, for rising up in tammany ranks was being ok with corruption. So needless to say, tweed's rise was buckin meteoric by 18 63, he'd risen to the position of grand sacham. He also had himself ointed deputy street commissioner, which is not a particularly sexy job title, but it gave him considerable access to the city's contractors and funding. But since nobody was scrutinizing those contracts, except the people in tweed's pockets, nobody said a word.
