The Phoenicians Traded in the Mediterranean
The phoenicians would be able to exploit the cedar wood of the mountain forests of canaan. The key to their success was their ability to man acture and trade fabrics coloured in the attractive murex purple. This particular sea snail is well known for secreting a mucus, which is a very distinct purple blue indigo color that could be used as a dye.
