Is There a Catholic Church in Irish Literature?
I don't think that the Catholic Church has a very important social presence among Irish people of my generation. There hasn't been in any sense a clean break with the Catholic past. It's not an Ireland that I recognize. The relationship between love and power relations is probably one of the primary themes of everything that I've written.
