The Importance of Tactic Knowledge

There's a literature that looks at the geographic diffusion of knowledge, and as you can imagine, because knowledge is sticky, there's a lot of barriers to the diffusion. The University of Zechai in Ecuador tried to build a university on an agricultural land two hours north of Quito but it didn't go well. People with college degrees tend to be more innovative than people who don't have them. Nobel Prize winners make up about 31% of U.S. inventors; they are biased towards talent from around the world.
