Is Hypoxia a Major Driver of Metabolic Dysfunction?

The collagen matrix allows proper reorganization of the capillary structure to allow efficient delivery of oxygen and nutrients through the bloodstream to the adipose tissue. And another animal model that you can use to look at this is you can delete or you can over-express a transcription factor called hypoxia-inducible factor one alpha, or HIF one alpha. This is a signaling molecule that mediates the response to insufficient oxygen known as hypoxia. That's what's going to follow from an inability to properly reorganized the extracellular matrix and allow the blood supply to reach the newly remodeled adipose tissue in the proper manner.
