Monogamy Reduces Violence Instigated by Jealousy
The idea that monogamy addresses jealousy and therefore neutralizes sexual jealousy as a cause of violence is problematic. Just because there's monogamy doesn't mean everybody, every man, gets a woman. In fact, you could argue that when women are considered possessions of men, such as in most monogamis societies, that gives men more to fight over. And so the best way to neutralize that violence is to give them what they need, i e, a woman.
