Inflation in 20 21 is still the leading idea that we have about the early universe, and most particularly about the origin of structure. There's a tiny bit of evidence for inflation that has subsequently come up. We observe perturbations that are almost scale free, but not quite,. Their tilted a little bit, exactly as inflation would naturally predict. That's weak evidence, but it's still evidence. I think that inflation has real conceptual issues that it has to deal with. But the fact that it has an issue to deal with doesn't mean it can't deal with it. And so we just don't know. It might very well not happen all our lifetimes, let's put
