Humidity is the amount of water that's in the air and it matters because during heat stress, one of the main ways that we cool our bodies is through sweating. The more humid the air is, the less likely we're able to evaporate that sweat from our body. And so our core temperature rises faster and puts us at greater risk for heat-related illnesses.
