The Devastation of La Palma's Volcano
Some 1,400 families have been affected in this way and are still waiting to go home. La Palma's government was caught between what many residents thought would be coming their way - and the reality of where the money allocated was to be spent. After the eruption the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez pledged over $230 million in aid. The European Union handed over $10 million from its Solidarity Fund which helps member nations deal with natural disasters.
