The Life of Constantine
Constantine's dream account has led to questions about whether it was maybe made up by his biographers. The idea of a commander using the report of a divinely inspired dream or vision, promising victory to instill morale in his troops has a very long pedigree in Roman history. Across the millennia, people have been influenced by and then acted upon what they believed were divine messages in dreams. What about in our modern, rational, science-driven world? Are there still credible stories of people encountering spirits or even the Christian God through dreams? I hesitate. But I find the whole thing fascinating.
