The Global Monroe Doctrine
Next year is the 200th anniversary of the Monroe Doctrine. The doctrine that the United States declared Latin America to basically be its colonial backyard or Joe Biden recently referred to Latin America as the US front yard. But now we see a kind of global Monroe Doctrine. Every country is part of the US backyard, the Pacific region on the other side of the planet, the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait. It's all the US backyard.
