Kevin and Craig noticed a wistfulness in Mickey for his youth and for his home. Part of them also had this sort of romanticized, idealized version of going someplace and finding more empty great ways like he'd had in Malibu in the 50s before it turned into something else. "I think there was a certain sadness to his character when he talked about California to us," Kevin says.
